Frequently Asked Questions
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Hardman Electric is a licensed and insured electrical contractor in the state of Florida. We can provide proof of license and insurance on request.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes, we provide free, no-obligation quotes for most projects. For troubleshooting calls, we'll give you an honest assessment of the problem before any repair work begins.
How far do you travel for jobs?
We serve Tampa and communities within roughly 50 miles, including Brandon, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Wesley Chapel, Lakeland, and more. Not sure if you're in range? Just call.
Can you install a Tesla or EV charger at my house?
In most cases, yes. We'll assess your panel's capacity first — some homes need a panel upgrade to safely support a charger, and we'll let you know upfront if that's the case.
My breaker keeps tripping — is that an emergency?
A breaker that trips occasionally from an overloaded circuit usually isn't an emergency, but one that trips repeatedly, feels hot, or won't reset should be looked at soon. If you smell burning or see sparking, turn off power to that circuit and call us right away.
Do I need a permit for my project?
Most electrical work in Florida requires a permit. We handle the permitting and inspection process as part of the job, so you don't have to deal with the county yourself.
How old does my house need to be before I should consider a panel upgrade?
It's less about age and more about capacity. If your panel still uses fuses, is rated below 100 amps, or you're adding major appliances or an EV charger, it's worth having it evaluated regardless of the home's age.
What areas do you not currently serve?
If you're well outside the Tampa Bay area (more than about 50 miles from Tampa), we may not be able to take the job — but reach out anyway and we'll let you know.
